How do I control the RGB lighting in my PC?
Dynamic Lighting (Default - Recommended)
For quick lighting customization on your MAINGEAR system, use the built-in Windows feature Dynamic Lighting. To start customizing your lighting using this feature, follow the steps below:
- Press the Windows key and type Settings into the search bar. Open Settings.
- Navigate to Personalization—>Dynamic Lighting.
- Adjust the brightness, color, effects, and sync options to your preferred settings.
(If the dynamic lighting is only controlling the RAM, press the RC/MB button on the included remote to switch the lighting control from the remote to the motherboard. This only applies to select systems like the MG-1)
Software Control (Optional)
For additional customization options, each motherboard manufacturer has their own proprietary software used for controlling RGB lighting. We have included download links to each RGB software below. It is important download the correct software for your motherboard brand. To find your PCs motherboard brand, you can visually identify this by looking inside your system at the motherboard, by referring to your original order invoice, or opening System Information and referring to the BaseBoard Manufacturer.
Disclaimer: Some software may offer drivers and tools that we do not recommend downloading. Certain tools are designed for system overclocking, which will void your MAINGEAR warranty if used.
- ASUS (Armoury Crate) Download
- MSI (MSI Center – Mystic Light) Download
- Gigabyte (RGB Fusion 2.0) Download
- Razer (Synapse) Download
Within these software utilities, you'll find a host of options for controlling your RGB lights. The process is relatively streamlined, but if you need further guidance, we recommend following these individual guides, as provided by the motherboard manufacturer.

Remote Control (Select Models)
On select MAINGEAR desktop configurations, you may also have the option of controlling your system’s lighting via remote control. To do this, you may need to switch from the default software control by either pressing the “RC/MB” button on the remote, or by toggling the physical switch on the RGB/Fan hub in your PC (if included).
NOTE: Physical toggle switches were discontinued in late-2021. PCs manufactured since then all include the "RC/MB" button on the remote control.
- The M buttons pertain to the “Mode” of which there are multiple preset lighting options.
- The S buttons control the speed of the lighting effect.
- The brightness buttons allow you to increase or decrease the brightness to your desired setting.
- The color buttons change the selected lighting effect to your desired color(s).
Disclaimer: Only one method of control can be used at a time. For example, the remote will not work when the lighting is set to be controlled by software, which is what MAINGEAR recommends.
