How to disable fast startup?
As the name implies, this windows feature enables your system to boot into Windows faster which cuts down on the time it takes to get to your desktop after hitting the power button. However, in some cases this feature may cause issues such as preventing the system from shutting down properly. It can also cause a number of other startup issues they may be the result of this feature being enabled. Please see instructions below on how to disable fast startup if you are experiencing shutdown or startup issues.
- Press the Windows Key + R to bring up the Run dialog, type powercfg.cpl and hit Enter.
- Click Choose what the power buttons do from the column located on the left.
- Under Shutdown Setting at the bottom, uncheck the Turn on fast startup (recommended) box to disable fast startup.
- Click Save changes located at the bottom.
