How to Enter BIOS on a Desktop PC

There are a few ways to access your system’s BIOS depending on your current setup. Follow the steps below to enter the BIOS using different methods.


Method 1: Entering BIOS by Pressing the Delete Key

  1. Restart or power on your system.
  2. As soon as the MAINGEAR or motherboard logo appears, repeatedly press the Delete key on your keyboard.
  3. This will take you directly into the BIOS.

Method 2: Accessing BIOS via Windows Recovery Environment

  1. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  2. While holding Shift, click Restart from the Windows Start menu.
  3. Your PC will reboot into the Windows Recovery Environment.
  4. Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware Settings.
  5. Select Restart. Your system will then boot into the BIOS.

Method 3: Entering BIOS via Command Prompt

  1. Open Windows Search and type cmd.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command exactly as shown below:
shutdown /r /fw /t 0
  1. Press Enter. Your PC will restart and automatically boot into the BIOS.
